La La Land recap

Our LA adventure begins at 6am Eastern Time, in our home just 30 minutes south of Atlanta, GA. Ginny is a caregiver for an autistic girl so she had to go get her ready for the day before we headed to the airport to catch our 11:15am flight. Four hours after takeoff we landed at LAX (ok, why do I hear Miley Cyrus singing in my head right now? Haha!) Our Executive Producer Chas Thomas and Endangered Entertainment’s Mark Haynie picked us up and we headed straight to RED Interactive Agency in Santa Monica to meet the people behind the scenes of our project. RED’s office was very cool and laid back. I think what excited us the most was they had a ping pong table and had tournaments all the time. We told them next time we come; we want a piece of that action! In case you didn’t know, Ginny and I are ping pong champions and will take on any challengers – but you better bring your “A” game… Haha!

After we left RED, we checked in to the beautiful and iconic “Beverly Hilton Hotel” in Beverly Hills. It is amazing how you can just feel the Hollywood history that has taken place on the grounds and inside this hotel. The halls and lobbies are lined with pictures of guests like Marilyn, Dean, Audrey and Frank – there is no need to even type the last names of these legends, you know who I’m talking about ;-)
Every morning I would get up around 6am Pacific Time – 9am Eastern – and I would just walk around the hotel and try to open doors I am sure I wasn’t supposed to open… not guest rooms, just common rooms. I went to the top floor where there are only two doors. One goes to the penthouse suites and the other goes into the Stardust Lounge. I went into the Stardust and instantly I was taken back in time. I was completely alone yet I felt like the room was crowded with the spirits of Hollywood past. There was a dance floor and a very small stage where a piano sat. My mind begin filling with the thoughts of who had tickled those ivory keys, who had busted out notes through those speakers, and who’s shoes had scuffed up that dance floor. Just outside the Stardust was the rooftop patio. As I walked around, I could somehow hear stories being told and jokes and laughter from one of many awards shows and parties that had taken place in the courtyard and pool deck below. I’ve been in museums and seen movie props before but I have never FELT the history like I did during those moments in the Stardust. [Read more...]

Walking in L.A.

Well our trip to LA has come to an end. We can’t believe it has only been 3 days because so much has happened in the past 72 hours… We didn’t really know what to expect coming out here. People say Hollywood is the town where dreams are made (and destroyed) and they tell us to keep your guard up and not to trust anyone because all the Hollywood types care about is themselves and the bottom line. We have had many conversations with Chas Thomas and Mark Haynie, of Endangered Entertainment, over the past six months, but this was going to be the first time meeting them face to face. Everything they had been telling us sounded amazing and almost too good to be true. Coming out here, we had our guards up for sure… but now, 3 days later, we can say with complete confidence that they are no longer just “TV producers,” they are our FRIENDS! These guys have been nothing short of amazing and have greatly exceeded our expectations.

Their vision for this project – and the magic they possess – will allow Ginny and I to do great things in the name of love and romance for many, many people.

We learned that this project will be much more than just an inspirational TV show – Red Interactive Agency and William Morris Entertainment will also develop numerous “Matt and Ginny” online platforms that cover everything from romance and “popping the big question” to weddings, health, fashion, relationships and more.
We can’t say too much just yet, but we certainly feel honored and Blessed to be part of such an amazing project!

So, if you’ve been wondering what all we have done in LA on this first visit, you can pretty much see and hear the whole trip on Facebook and/or Twitter. We’ve posted a lot of pics! We are going to write another BLOG later today to share the entire break-down of the trip, if you are interested… We can’t wait to come back out here and get to do even more site seeing, learn more history, and hang out with the really amazing people behind the project of Matt and Ginny. We hope you join us on this journey, its going to be a BLAST!

Tales from the big apple

This is the kind of story that we are all about….TEAM Matt and Ginny will be bringing light to stories like this in the very near future….PLEASE READ and Be Blessed :-)

A NYC Taxi driver wrote:

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the… car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. ‘Just a minute’, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90′s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940′s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and glassware.

‘Would you carry my bag out to the car?’ she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. ‘It’s nothing’, I told her.. ‘I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.’

‘Oh, you’re such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, ‘Could you drive
through downtown?’

A Letter from Mrs. Bonnie Gue

Dear Matt & Ginny,

First of all I want to say, Congratulations! Marriage is awesome. Yes I saw the video, only because I am preparing to teach a class to newly married ladies, and stumbled upon it. I can’t say anymore than everyone else has already said, WOW! Made me hope in “Man” kind that there is still creative, romantic guys out there. :) (I still have 4 daughters who are single, hope all of them have awesome stories to tell.) Now to get around to my real reason to contact you. I am not a counselor, however God has giving me many opportunities to talk with ladies about having a healthy marriage. I am a dedicated follower after my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yes, I’m a Christian. I was raised in a Christian home with awesome parents who model a Christ centered marriage. I have a wonderful, godly husband and have been married for 26 years and we have 8 children! (We are not mormons) My husband and I have always been apart of a local church fellowship and have served God in many different aspects over the years. The one thing that we have seen too many times, is [Read more...]

Community

I remember growing up and watching shows with my parents like “Cheers” and “The Andy Griffith Show”. I remember thinking I couldn’t wait for the day that I was old enough to have a place where when I walked in, everyone yelled out my name like they did for Norm on Cheers. I also wanted to have my local place to take my car when it was acting up, or go to the same place to get my hair cut every time, or go have my morning coffee and sit in the same seat with the same people at the same time everyday like on Andy Griffith. I hate to say it but times sure have changed. Now a days, people are so rushed and consumed with our fast pace life, we don’t have time to do these things. We eat when we can, where we can. We get our hair cut at a chain place after we go grocery shopping. We take our cars to a place and hope the worker is honest.
I am a big community type person. If you lived in my town and were friends with me on my personal facebook profile, you would see what I mean. I try to help out local, privately owned restaurants by putting on events like live music, or sporting events viewing parties, and such. I try to get people together to have fun and help out our local community. I have never done this as a job, but mainly because I am trying to help create my own personal Cheers…haha. When it comes to services in my community, I try to use only local people. When I needed my carpets cleaned, I not only used a local guy but I helped him spread the word after he did a good job at my house. I didn’t do it for money, I did it because that’s what communities should do for each other.
Ginny and I recently bought a used 1999 Ford Ranger because we needed a truck for a business venture we are about to take on. I did not have a personal mechanic to take it to to have some work done so I asked my community on Facebook where to take it. I got over 20 response! I ended up taking down the street to a guy who not only gave me a great price but he showed me first hand what was wrong before he even did the work. This is what community is all about.
So in closing, when you need something done, try to do it in your local community and when it is done, spread the word to your family and friends. We should all live more of a Cheers and Andy Griffith life if you ask me.
